Ingredients

  • Potatoes
  • Salt
  • Olive oil
  • Butter
  • Sour cream
  • Chives
  • Cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash the potatoes under cold running water and dry with a kitchen towel.
  3. Prick each potato several times with a fork, rub with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.
  4. Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack and bake for 45-60 minutes until tender.
  5. Remove the potatoes from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  6. Slice open the potatoes and add butter, sour cream, chives, and cheese if desired.

Notes

For even cooking, choose potatoes of similar size. Prick them to avoid bursting and consider microwaving for 5-10 minutes before baking for a shorter cooking time.
