Delicious and airy vanilla beignets that bring the charm of Parisian patisseries to your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup water, warmed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, warm water, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into squares.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry the beignets in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the beignets from absorbing too much oil. Serve warm for the best experience.
