Deliciously rich and nutty butter pecan cookies that evoke warm memories and are perfect for sharing.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl, then gradually blend into the wet mixture.
  5. Stir in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips if desired.
  6. Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
