A quick and easy homemade caramel sauce using sweetened condensed milk, perfect for drizzling over desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the sweetened condensed milk, butter, and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture starts to boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and continue to cook while stirring for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens and turns a deep golden color.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  4. Let it cool slightly before using or storing.

Notes

Keep stirring while cooking to prevent the sauce from burning. For a smoother texture, blend the sauce after it cools. If you prefer a thicker caramel, let it cook for a few more minutes. Experiment with toppings like nuts or sea salt for added flavor.
