Bring vibrant flavors to your kitchen with these quick and customizable carne asada street tacos, featuring juicy grilled steak and fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb carne asada (flank steak or skirt steak)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Corn tortillas
  • Chopped onions
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges
  • Salsa (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Carne Asada: In a bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the carne asada, ensuring it’s well-coated in the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the Grill or Skillet: While the steak marinates, preheat your grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Grill the Carne Asada: Once preheated, place the carne asada on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
  4. Allow the Meat to Rest: Remove the carne asada from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
  5. Warm the Corn Tortillas: While the meat rests, warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in the skillet for about 30 seconds on each side.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Slice the rested carne asada thinly against the grain and place the sliced meat on each warm tortilla. Top with chopped onions and cilantro, and finish with a squeeze of lime.
  7. Serve with Salsa (if desired): Add a spoonful of salsa to your tacos for extra flavor.

Notes

Serve with fresh guacamole, Mexican rice, or black beans. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
