A comforting dish featuring jumbo pasta shells filled with a creamy, cheesy mixture, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 20 pieces jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 piece egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (or substitute with homemade tomato sauce)
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pasta Shells: Boil a large pot of salted water, gently add the jumbo pasta shells, and cook until al dente. Drain and let cool.
  2. Make the Cheesy Filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, beaten egg, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until creamy.
  3. Stuff the Shells: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Fill each cooled pasta shell with the cheesy mixture.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Spread half of the marinara sauce in a baking dish, place stuffed shells seam-side up, cover with remaining sauce, and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Let sit for 5 minutes and optionally garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

These shells can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge. They are also freezer-friendly.
