A comforting pasta dish filled with creamy ricotta and topped with marinara sauce, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 20 pieces jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 piece egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (or substitute with homemade tomato sauce)
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Pasta Shells: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil, add the jumbo pasta shells, cook until al dente, drain, and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Cheesy Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, beaten egg, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Stuff the Shells: Fill each cooked pasta shell generously with the cheesy mixture.
  4. Spread the Marinara Sauce: Pour marinara sauce to cover the bottom of a baking dish, lay stuffed shells in a single layer, and drizzle more sauce over the shells.
  5. Sprinkle with Cheese: Top with the remaining shredded mozzarella.
  6. Bake to Perfection: Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Cool Before Serving: Let the stuffed shells rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
