Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter in another bowl.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm with syrup or whipped cream.

Notes

For fluffier waffles, let the batter rest for about 5 minutes before cooking. You can substitute buttermilk with regular milk mixed with vinegar or lemon juice.
