Delightful churro cruffins combining flaky pastry with sweet cinnamon sugar and optional fillings, perfect for dessert or brunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry or croissant dough
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup dulce de leche or chocolate sauce for filling (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry or croissant dough on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Cut the dough into rectangles, about 4×6 inches each.
  4. Brush each piece generously with melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon mixture on top of the buttered dough.
  6. If using, place a small amount of dulce de leche or chocolate sauce on one end of each rectangle.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a cylinder and curve it into a cruffin shape.
  8. Place the cruffins in a greased muffin tin.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  10. Brush with more melted butter and coat with additional cinnamon-sugar.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
  12. Let cool slightly, then enjoy warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
