Indulge in these soft, pillowy cinnamon rolls, perfect for breakfast or gatherings, topped with a luscious icing.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk or cream for icing

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Heat milk and butter in a saucepan until melted.
  3. Pour the warm mixture into the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 hour.
  7. Punch down the dough and roll out into a rectangle.
  8. Spread butter over the dough and sprinkle with sugars and cinnamon.
  9. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 slices.
  10. Let the rolls rise in a baking dish for 30-45 minutes.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  12. Mix powdered sugar with milk for icing.
  13. Drizzle icing over the warm rolls.

Ensure your milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast. Experiment with different fillings for variations.
