Soft and fluffy dinner rolls, perfect for any meal, with a buttery crispness on the outside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the Wet Ingredients: Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg to the bowl.
  3. Bring the Dough Together: Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size—about 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a roll.
  7. Cover the rolls again and let them rise for another 30-40 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Pop the rolls into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Let the rolls cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftover rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for about a week.
