  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Custard, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Mix the chopped apples with cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the butter mixture.
  5. Stir in the milk and prepared apples until well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing out the top.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool slightly before serving with custard, whipped cream, or ice cream.
