Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook the ground meat in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until tender.
  4. Stir in the peas, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour the meat mixture into a baking dish.
  6. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meat filling.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Try topping with sweet potato mash for a twist. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge or frozen for 2-3 months.
