A comforting and creamy macaroni and cheese recipe with a delicious blend of cheddar and mozzarella.

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste breadcrumbs
  • to taste parsley

Instructions

  1. Boil the macaroni: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add elbow macaroni and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the roux: Melt unsalted butter over medium heat, add flour and stir for about two minutes until a paste forms.
  3. Create the cheese sauce: Whisk in milk slowly, stir until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the cheeses: Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and mozzarella until melted. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Combine pasta with cheese sauce: Fold cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce, coating well.
  6. Optional baking for extra crunch: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), transfer macaroni and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Garnish and serve: Cool slightly, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

Use high-quality cheese for the best flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
