A comforting creamy macaroni and cheese dish that transports you back to childhood with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Breadcrumbs to taste
  • Parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Whisk in the flour to form a paste and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Slowly whisk in the whole milk and continue whisking until smooth and slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic powder and onion powder, then mix in cheeses until melted.
  4. Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked macaroni and stir to combine.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer mac and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool for a few minutes, then garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra creaminess, consider using heavier creams or adding cream cheese. You can also mix in your favorite cheese combos for unique flavors.
