A comforting one-pot meal that combines savory chicken sausage, tender broccoli, and creamy orzo, perfect for cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 12 ounces chicken sausage, sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup orzo
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chicken sausage slices and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and softened, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add orzo, chicken broth, and milk. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  4. Cover the pot and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Uncover the pot and add broccoli florets and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese melts and the broccoli is tender, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper and stir to combine.
  7. Serve immediately, garnishing with extra Parmesan or chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

Use frozen broccoli if fresh isn’t available; just add it a minute earlier. Customize veggies as per your preference.
