Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Additional granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Combine the sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla extract, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool completely.
  4. Shape the thickened mixture into small balls with your hands.
  5. Roll each brigadeiro in heavy cream to prepare for coating.
  6. Roll them in granulated sugar to mimic a classic brûlée topping.
  7. Chill the brigadeiros in the refrigerator before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For a citrusy twist, add orange zest or for a mocha version, mix in espresso powder. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
