Transform leftover mashed potatoes into crunchy, flavorful fries, seasoned with garlic, onion, and optionally, Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (smooth)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Oil for frying or baking

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine your smooth mashed potatoes with flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. If you’re going for that cheesy goodness, add the grated Parmesan cheese now.
  2. Use your hands or a spoon to form the mashed potato mixture into thin, fry-like shapes.
  3. In a large frying pan, heat a generous amount of oil over medium heat. Carefully place your shaped fries into the skillet, frying for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crisp.
  4. Once cooked, remove the fries from the heat and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Serve hot.

Notes

Ensure your mashed potatoes are well-mixed and free of lumps for the best texture. Feel free to get creative with your flavors by adding spices.
