A deliciously chaotic cake featuring layers of coconut, nuts, and gooey cream cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 package cream cheese (8 oz)
  • 1 box powdered sugar (16 oz)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Spread the shredded coconut and chopped nuts evenly in the bottom of the greased pan.
  3. In a mixing bowl, prepare the German chocolate cake mix as directed on the box, then blend in the eggs, sour cream, and vegetable oil until smooth.
  4. Carefully pour the cake batter over the coconut and nut mixture in the prepared pan.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy and smooth, then drop spoonfuls over the cake batter.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips generously on top.
  7. Bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Let the cake cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerated for up to a week, and frozen for up to 3 months.
