  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 0.25 cups extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • To taste fresh or dried herbs (rosemary, thyme, basil)

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm water and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil and salt to the activated yeast mixture.
  3. Incorporate the flour gradually, mixing with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 3-5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Prepare a baking sheet by generously oiling it.
  7. Transfer the risen dough to the prepared baking pan and stretch to fit.
  8. Sprinkle herbs over the top and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
