Delightfully sweet and tender, these Easy Glazed Pearl Onions make a perfect side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pearl onions
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it’s frothy.
  2. Add the pearl onions and sauté until slightly tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour in enough water to cover the onions, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Cover the pan and let the onions cook for 20-30 minutes until tender and glazed.
  6. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

For easier peeling, blanch pearl onions in boiling water for one minute and then plunge into ice water. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
