Delicious crispy corn dogs with juicy hot dogs enveloped in golden, crunchy batter that take you back to summer fairs.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • Hot dogs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Whisk Together the Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients until smooth.
  4. Preheat the Oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Prep Your Hot Dogs: Insert wooden sticks into hot dogs.
  6. Dip and Coat the Hot Dogs in batter.
  7. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
