Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Eggs: Bring a medium pot of water to a gentle boil, then carefully add the eggs and boil for 6-8 minutes for soft yolks.
  2. Create the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, water, sesame oil, and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Prepare the Ice Bath: Transfer the boiled eggs to an ice bath for about 5 minutes to cool and ease peeling.
  4. Peel and Marinate: Peel the eggs under running water. Place them in the marinade, ensuring they are submerged, and soak for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the eggs from the marinade, slice in half, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Use fresh eggs for best results. Adjust the sugar in the marinade for sweetness. For extra flavor, try adding rice vinegar or red pepper flakes.
