A quick and easy version of the beloved General Tso’s Chicken, featuring crispy chicken pieces in a sticky, sweet, and savory sauce.

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cubed
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Coat the chicken in cornstarch until well coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Sauté garlic and ginger in the same pan for a minute until fragrant.
  5. Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and chicken broth.
  6. Simmer the sauce for a couple of minutes.
  7. Combine chicken with the sauce until well coated.
  8. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, let the coated chicken sit for a few minutes before frying. Adjust the sugar for desired sweetness and add red pepper flakes for heat.
