Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (your favorite kind – sourdough, whole wheat, or classic white)
  • 2 slices of cheese (a blend of cheddar and mozzarella works wonders!)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (for that crispy, golden crust)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of a slice of bread.
  3. Place the buttered slice, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  4. Add a slice (or two) of cheese on top of the bread.
  5. Butter one side of a second slice of bread.
  6. Assemble the sandwich by placing the buttered slice on top of the cheese, butter-side up.
  7. Cook until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes.
  8. Flip the sandwich and cook for another 2-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Remove, slice down the middle, and serve.

Notes

Pairs beautifully with tomato soup or a light salad. For extras, crispy pickles make a great side!
