Delightful Halloween treat featuring tart apples coated in a glossy black candy layer, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Black food coloring (optional)
  • Wooden sticks or skewers

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Once at the right temperature, remove from heat and add vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and black food coloring, stirring gently.
  5. Dip each apple into the candy mixture, swirling to coat evenly.
  6. Place the coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
  7. Let them sit for about an hour before serving.

Notes

Store candy apples at room temperature for up to 2 days. Keep away from moisture.
