Delicious swirls of flaky pastry filled with savory ham and melted cheese, perfect for snacks or appetizers.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 4 slices ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, ensuring it’s even for the best swirls.
  3. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Arrange the ham slices over the mustard, creating a hearty layer.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the ham, followed by a light dusting of black pepper.
  6. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the pastry into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
  7. Cut the log into 12 slices about 1 cm (1/2 inch) thick and place them cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Whisk the egg and milk together to make an egg wash and brush it over the tops of the swirls.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the pastry is golden and puffed.

Notes

Leftover swirls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
