A comforting and nutritious twist on traditional meatloaf made with lean ground turkey and a tangy BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground turkey
  • 1 cup Whole wheat breadcbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (plus more for topping)
  • 1/2 cup Diced onion
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a loaf pan by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Combine the ground turkey, whole wheat breadcrumbs, egg, BBQ sauce, diced onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and optional herbs in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Mix the ingredients until just combined; avoid over-mixing.
  5. Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  6. Add an extra layer of BBQ sauce on top for a flavorful glaze.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Rest the meatloaf for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. Slice and serve warm, drizzled with additional BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

Let the meatloaf rest after baking for improved texture. Use a meat thermometer for perfect cooking.
