A soft, rich, and buttery loaf of bread that’s perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or afternoon toast.

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt until well blended.
  3. Mix wet and dry ingredients: Add the yeast mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients, mixing until combined.
  4. Incorporate the butter: Gradually incorporate the softened butter into the mixture until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise: Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1-2 hours.
  6. Punch down and shape: Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or desired shapes.
  7. Second rise: Place the shaped dough in greased pans, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  8. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake the brioche: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool and serve: Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Store brioche in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for long-term storage.
