Delightful and fluffy homemade soft pretzel bites, perfect for sharing and snacking.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • â…“ cup baking soda (for boiling solution)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Coarse salt (for sprinkling)
  • Optional: melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Warm the water and activate yeast by combining warm water and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast and let it sit until foamy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients by whisking together flour and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Make the dough by adding the flour mixture to the yeast mixture and kneading until it forms a ball.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 30 minutes.
  5. Boil the water with baking soda in a large pot, taking care as it bubbles up.
  6. Shape the pretzel bites by turning out the risen dough and cutting it into small pieces.
  7. Boil the pretzel bites in batches for about 30 seconds each.
  8. Egg wash and sprinkle each bite with coarse salt.
  9. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly before serving and optionally brush with melted butter.

Notes

Perfect for game days or casual gatherings. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for a month.
