A creamy and delicious Mexican White Cheese Dip that’s perfect for gatherings and impromptu get-togethers.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) white American cheese (shredded or cubed)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 small can (4 oz / 110 g) diced green chilies (optional)
  • 1 small jalapeño (finely diced, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • 1–2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the shredded white American cheese, whole milk, and heavy cream (if using) in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until the cheese melts completely and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and salt. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  4. Add the diced green chilies for an extra layer of flavor if you’re using them.
  5. Incorporate the finely diced jalapeño into the melted cheese mixture.
  6. Stir in the tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt fully into the dip.
  7. Remove from heat and serve immediately alongside tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, or your favorite dippers.
  8. Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top just before serving.

Notes

Pair with crispy tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or toasted baguette slices for variety. Reheat leftovers with a splash of milk if too thick.
