A rich and creamy Kahlua buttercream filling that adds a delightful twist to cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Kahlua
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (optional for chocolate version)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon brewed espresso or strong coffee (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well until combined.
  3. Pour in the Kahlua and mix until the buttercream is smooth and fluffy.
  4. If using, add cocoa powder for a chocolate version or espresso for extra coffee flavor, and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Use immediately as a filling or frosting for cakes and cupcakes.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for up to three months. Let it come to room temperature and re-whip before use.
