Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the marinade ingredients: In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and black pepper.
  2. Place the steak in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade and let excess liquid drip off.
  5. Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  6. Remove the steak from the grill and cover it with foil. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Slice the steak thinly against the grain and serve it garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Allow the steak to reach room temperature before grilling and don’t skip the resting step for juicy meat.
