A quick and satisfying meal that brings a delightful blend of savory and sweet flavors, reminiscent of Korean street cuisine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it’s nicely browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
  2. Build the Flavor: Once the beef is browned, stir in the minced garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and grated ginger. Let this mixture cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
  3. Steam the Broccoli: While the beef is simmering in its savory sauce, steam the broccoli florets until they are tender.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Spoon the beef mixture over a bed of cooked rice, then top with the tender broccoli, sliced green onions, and a sprinkling of sesame seeds for that final touch of elegance.

Notes

Opt for lean ground beef to cut down on fat; ground turkey or chicken can also work. Adjust sweetness by reducing brown sugar. For heat, add red pepper flakes.
