A crispy and flavorful take on Korean Fried Chicken, featuring perfectly crunchy skin and a deliciously spicy sauce.

  • 2 lbs chicken pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Prepare the buttermilk dip by coating chicken pieces.
  3. Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the chicken until golden brown for about 10-12 minutes.
  6. Prepare the sauce by combining gochujang, soy sauce, honey, garlic, sesame oil, and rice vinegar in a saucepan.
  7. Coat the fried chicken with the sauce.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

Ensure oil is hot before frying for perfect crispiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
