  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined and fluffy.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips into the dough.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Sprinkle a small pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze the dough for longer storage.
