  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (or coconut oil for a Halal-friendly option)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups M&M candies
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans) (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stirring until just mixed.
  7. Fold in the M&M candies and nuts (if using).
  8. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden brown.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
