A comforting and easy-to-prepare breakfast casserole that the whole family will love, perfect for holiday mornings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (optional)
  • 8 slices of bread (cubed)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and drain excess fat.
  2. Mix the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and mustard in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the cubed bread, cooked sausage, shredded cheese, and any vegetables into the egg mixture and stir gently.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Chill overnight in the refrigerator, covered.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes.
  7. Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or eat cold.
