Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) unflavored gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm, but do not boil.
  2. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it sit for about 5 minutes to soften.
  3. Once softened, add the gelatin mixture to the warm cream and stir until completely dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the milk until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into molds or cups and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
  6. To serve, unmold the panna cotta onto plates and garnish with fresh berries if desired.

Notes

For a tropical version, use coconut cream and consider adding flavors like espresso or citrus zest. Serve with almond cookies or a rich chocolate sauce.
