A simple and delicious homemade pizza dough recipe that creates a perfect canvas for your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine ingredients: Gradually add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Knead the dough: Knead on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let it rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape & rest: Punch down the dough, let it rest for another 10-15 minutes before shaping into crust.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing dried herbs into the flour. Ensure water is warm enough to activate the yeast without killing it.
