A classic Reuben sandwich featuring savory corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, tangy sauerkraut, all golden brown and crispy.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of rye bread
  • 4 ounces of corned beef, sliced
  • 2 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup of sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Russian or Thousand Island dressing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet over medium heat until warm.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
  3. Layer the corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut on the non-buttered side of one slice.
  4. Assemble the sandwich with the second slice on top, buttered side facing up.
  5. Cook the sandwich in the skillet until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Flip the sandwich and cook the other side until golden and the cheese melts, about another 3-4 minutes.
  7. Serve warm, sliced in half.

Notes

Pair with fries or coleslaw for a perfect meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
