A comforting twist on classic Salisbury steak, these meatballs are savory and easy to prepare, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
  • Mashed potatoes or egg noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix the meatball ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-2 inches in size.
  3. Sear the meatballs in heated olive oil until browned on all sides.
  4. Set aside the browned meatballs.
  5. Sauté the sliced mushrooms in the same skillet.
  6. Create the gravy by adding beef broth and soy sauce, scraping up any browned bits.
  7. Simmer the meatballs in the gravy for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Thicken the gravy if desired by adding mixed cornstarch with water.
  9. Plate the meatballs over mashed potatoes or egg noodles and serve.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
