A savory and comforting Salisbury steak recipe featuring juicy patties and rich gravy, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Shape the mixture into patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  3. Sizzle the patties in heated olive oil over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  4. Sauté the sliced mushrooms and onion in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  5. Create the gravy by stirring in beef broth, ketchup, and mustard, and simmer gently.
  6. Simmer the patties in the gravy for about 20 minutes, covered.
  7. Serve the Salisbury steak hot with gravy on top.

Notes

Pairs well with mashed potatoes or rice. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
