Delightful steamed buns filled with nutty sesame oil and savory scallions, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup scallions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Measure and combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add the warm water and vegetable oil, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Once risen, roll the dough out into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  6. Gently brush the rolled dough with sesame oil.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped scallions and sesame seeds over the dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into equal pieces.
  9. Place the pieces on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Prepare your steamer and steam the buns for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.

Notes

These buns are best enjoyed warm with soy sauce or chili oil. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
