A delightful Strawberry French Toast Casserole that’s perfect for lazy weekend mornings and special brunches, combining rich custard-soaked bread with luscious strawberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 3 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter (for greasing the pan)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and arrange half of the cubes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer the sliced strawberries over the bread and then top with the remaining bread cubes.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread and strawberries, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For the best flavor, let the casserole soak overnight for a custard-like texture. Use day-old bread for better results.
