Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 cups Warm Water (110°F)

  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
  • Cornmeal (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water with sugar and instant yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy and bubbly.
  2. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together bread flour, salt, Italian seasoning, and dried oregano.
  3. Mix the Dough: Gradually add dry ingredients to yeast mixture and pour in olive oil, combining until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Shape into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the Loaf: Gently punch down dough, turn out onto a floured surface, and shape into a loaf.
  7. Second Rise: Place shaped loaf on a baking sheet, cover, and let rest for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Add the Cheese Topping: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the loaf just before baking.
  10. Bake the Bread: Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 190°F (87°C).
  11. Cool Before Slicing: Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing.
