Delightful sugar cookies with a crunchy edge and soft center, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and salt into the creamed mixture.
  5. Gradually blend the flour mixture into the creamed mixture.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls.
  7. Roll the dough balls in the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar.
  8. Place the sugar-coated balls onto an ungreased baking pan and flatten each ball gently.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until beautifully golden.
  10. Let your cookies cool on wire racks.

Notes

For chewier cookies, add an extra egg yolk. Store in an airtight container or freeze for longer freshness.
