A comforting dessert featuring tart apples and a crunchy oat topping, perfect for autumn gatherings.

  • 6 cups of thinly sliced and peeled tart apples (like Granny Smith)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9;13-inch baking dish lightly with butter.
  2. Combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and cornstarch in a large bowl.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  4. Mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl to prepare the topping.
  5. Pour the melted butter over the oat mixture and stir with a fork until it forms a crumbly texture.
  6. Evenly distribute the oat topping over the apples in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
